Monday, 27 June 2016 – Day 12 – London to Malta

Monday, 27 June 2016 – Day 12 – London to Malta

Up at 7.00 and said goodbye to Cynthia who was off to work.  It rained for a short bit but when the girls left for school, it had stopped. At 8.15 Mark and I left for the train station and then onto Victoria Station for me to get the Gatwick Express. Mark was a great help as I probably wouldn’t have taken this route without his help.

I arrived at the Gatwick Airport at 9.15 after the half hour journey. Booked my case in at 9.30 and then in line for Security. Was a long walk to Gate 33. Met and chatted to a lovely couple, Paddy and Rosie. We boarded our plane Malta ET645 for Malta. We had a delay of half an hour and eventually took off at 12.30.  We were served a nice roll and then it was smooth flying and we arrived at the Valletta Airport at 4.20.  Waited for a short while to go through passport control, collected my case and was met by my driver who drove me to my accommodation in Birgu. The owner, Renald met me and gave me some pointers about the surrounds.  My apartment is up 40 steps and a few more above is the top of the building so went up and took a couple of photos.

It was very warm, so had a shower, changed and went down the little alley way to Renald’s restaurant, Cafe de Centre for a beer, snails and a kids pizza.

As I was leaving, spoke with a John from Roumania so we had a drink, chatted and he showed me the marina before taking me back to near my accommodation.

It was now 11.30 so went straight to bed after a long day.

Start of overseas trip – 16 June 2016 – Days 1 and 2

 Thursday, 16 June 2016. –  Start of overseas trip – Days 1 and 2.

Rob picked me up at 10.00 and drove me to the Canberra airport for my flight at 12.10 on QF1474 to Sydney.

Was a smooth flight and arrived at 1.05.  Hopped on the shuttle bus to the international airport and through Security and to Gate 60 to board BA16 to London via Singapore.  We left at 3.00.  Didn’t seem as though we had been on board before we were served a meal of chicken, corn rice and a glass of Temprranillo La Mancha a product of Spain.  Was a good flight and arrived in Singapore at 9.15 local time Australia is 2 hours ahead.

Was a long walk to C20. Went through Security at 10.00 pm and boarded BA16. and we departed at 10.45 pm.  Settled in and at 2.00 am served a meal of fish, spinach, potatoes, carrots, a side dish of tuna, lettuce, capsicum and a dessert of a lemon square, strawberries and cranberries.  I then took my painkillers and a mild sleeping tablet and had a good sleep until I was woken up at 3.00 am with breakfast.  At this stage we had 2 hours to go before London.  When it was 11.00am in Singapore it was 4.00am in London and now we only had 45 minutes before our landing time was a little earlier than scheduled. We landed at 4.45am.

Friday, 17 June 2016 – London (Day 2)

Hopped straight onto the transit train and onto passport security. Took about an hour and then collected my luggage and my transport was waiting to drive me to Euston Station by 6.45.  I got my rail ticket and went in for some breakfast as train I wanted was leaving at 8.49. Arrived at Birmingham New Street Station where I had to change trains at 11.10am – go over the other platform and that train left at 11.25 for Telford Central, arriving at 12.00.  It was raining in London but was nice and sunny in Telford.  Got a cab to my accommodation but room wasn’t ready until 2.00 so went and had a croissant and coffee.

I settled into my room and had an early night.

Sunday, 9 August 2015 – Day 15 – Paris – London – Final Day of Coach Tour – (Day 61)

Sunday, 9 August 2015 – Day 15 – Paris – London -Final Day of Coach Tour – (Day 61)

Was an early wakeup at 6.00 and it was time to say goodbye to Alyssa who had to leave at 6.15.  Was sad to say goodbye as she was a great roommate and hope we stay in touch.  Said goodbyes to the different folk who were not joining 8 of us to London.  Was just a great group – various ages and nationalities.  I would like to commend the young ones on the tour. They were all very well mannered and so very helpful and respectful towards the more mature passengers so I say a huge THANKYOU to you all.  Really made this trip for me so very enjoyable. Also THANKYOU to Luigi for his fantastic driving and for Britt who was really very knowledgeable.  All the best to you both in the future.

Wayne and Lou were coming back to London so it was time to say goodbye to Steve and Gay who were off on another little break before returning to New Zealand.

COACH TOUR 2015 (270)

We were on the bus at 8.00 for the hour and half drive to the huge port of Calais. Our allotted time for the ferry was 12.30. Before boarding, we had to show our passports.  Now it was time to leave Luigi and Britt as we would connect up with another Cosmos bus.

The ferry ride was about two hours into the Port of Dover once more and then onto the coach for the long drive to London.

Finally arrived in London at about 6.30 – booked into the very swanky Dorsett Shepherds Bush hotel.  There was a lovely park over the road.

Then it was time to meet Cynthia to get my very tightly packed bag that I left with her. It was very good of her to do this for me.  After she left, went and had my last drink with Wayne and Lou and said goodbye at 8.30.  Headed up to my room to put all my gear into some sort of order and in bed by 9.30 as have a really early start in the morning.

End of an amazing coach tour throughout Europe – even though it was quite full-on, we saw some amazing places with some amazing people. It was great !!!!
